Jason Chapel of the Nazarene is a part of the Church of the Nazarene with over 2.6 million members worshipping in more than 30,000 local congregations in approximately 158 world areas. The denomination was founded in 1908 as the Lord brought together sincere believers who were experiencing the Holy Spirit leading them deeper into holy living in their revivals and church services. The mission of the Church of the Nazarene is: “To make Christlike disciples in the nations.” 

OUR BELIEFS

We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

LOCAL HISTORY

 
Jason Chapel began as a Nazarene church in 1911 with a faithful congregation. That year, the congregation also relocated – we moved from where we had been meeting on Garner’s Creek Road to Jason Chapel Road. The Methodists were moving out of a church building on Jason Chapel Road and that year it became available to us and met the needs of the growing church. We don’t know a lot of what happened in the life of the church prior to 1911, but we left behind the aging log structure that had served as the meeting place for the congregation, and joined the “new” (1908) denomination of the Nazarene Church. We remained there on Jason Chapel Road until about 1983 when we moved to our current location  on Garner’s Creek Road having been led by Pastor Wiser to build our current sanctuary facility. Our Family Life Center was built around 2000. Our former locations are near us, about 4 miles or so north of us, but we remain in the middle of the community we have loved and sought to serve for over a century.
